8-10th Centuries - Abbasid, Akhshids, Fatimids
1068 - Major Earthquake. Seljuks arrive. City moves East
1099 - Crusaders settle on way to Jerusalem. Find Ramla empty.Crusaders build Castle with moat and fortifications.
1141 - Cathedral built.
1177 - Saladin takes Ramla/Lod and St. Georgius but loses again at Montgisard (Gezer)
1187 - Horns of Hattin - End of first crusader Kingdom of Jerusalem
1190 - Saladin's generals rebuild White Mosque (even though it was out of town)
1191 - Richard the Lionheart wins at Akko and Arsuf. Saladin retreats to Ramla
1192 - Richard strikes agreement with Saladin.
1207 - The Crusaders once again rule the town
1266 - Mamluks (Baybars) occupy
1298 - Cathedral converted to Mosque by Mameluk Sultan Kitbugha
1308 - Mamluks build square tower
1347 - Franciscans settle Ramla
1516 - Occupied by Turks
1799 - Napoleon conquers Ramla on way to Akko
